The philosophic concept of the Armenian pavilion reads as “Thought and Time” since the dialectics of development of cities of the world consists in the eternal contest of the creative Thought and overpowering Time. This theme best illustrates the obvious truth that the Armenian people over its entire history has been building cities, and created beautiful monuments of architecture and culture thanks to its creative Thought; and nowadays the Armenian people continues its worthy contribution to the contemporary image of various cities of the world. At the World Exhibition in Shanghai Armenia proposes to the peoples of the world to discuss the idea of building the City of the Word in its territory, in the vicinity of Mt. Ararat. This city, first synthesized in the virtual space, then implemented in real space will be an arena for the interaction of civilizations and cultures, a reliable treasurer of national customs and traditions, a favorable environment for the introduction of state-of-the-art “technologies of Life”, and a comfortable place to live for each citizen of the world. The Armenian pavilion is presented as the prototype of the future City of the World… As soon as we enter the city, on the “horizon”, we’ll see the biblical Mt. Ararat, the safe haven of mankind and all the forms of life. And against the backdrop of Mt. Ararat we will see the contours of the “national quarters” of the peoples of the world in the forms of sketches and mock-ups. Closing our eyes for a moment we can picture the beautiful future City of the World, and most importantly, see ourselves in it… The beauty of nature which we’ll no doubt see in the pavilion, the delightful music we’ll surely hear in the pavilion and the hearty welcome we’ll definitely enjoy in the pavilion shall help us… Don’t hesitate to visit us, we’ll get to know each other and build our dream city!
